Roland Smith originally trained in engineering, serving an apprenticeship in the defence and aerospace sub-contracting industry. On completion of his training, he was appointed senior draughtsman with the responsibility of designing production tooling and detailed drawing of components for manufacture. He later worked for major international companies as a sales and applications engineer for interconnection devices and electromechanical and electronic switching equipment.
He has been in business on his own account since 1987, from time to time taking periods of temporary and permanent employment, offering the services described on this website. Some of his loyal customers date from the early years of his trading.
Outside his work, he is a keen amateur musician, singing in one of the most accomplished chamber choirs in the south west region and conducting the Devon based choir, The Winkleigh Singers, which he founded in 1984.
